Game 1 - Roxbury Nine 20 - Gothams 0 Game 2 - Roxbury Nine 5 - Gothams 4 Sorry for the long dlay (mispeling added for stcks), but I actually forgot I hadn't sent this out or maybe just wanted to forget the first game at least. Game 1: Our first game was a complete washout as we were Chicagoed by the Roxbury 9 20-0. As opposed to the last few times we played the 9, game 1 was an overhand game played by Roxbury's 1898 rules. The game was over after 5 innings. The Gothams only mounted 1 rally (sort of) as we strung together a single by Rugs and walks to Slider and Stacks in the 2nd inning, all with 2 outs, but there was no joy in Gotham as the mighty Walker struck out. I don't remember any fine plays (other than a few fielding gems from Roxbury's shortstop...1 of which turned Trolley's single into a DP). We held them to "only" 4 runs in the first 2 innings, but Trolley couldn't find the strike zone in the 3rd, as Roxbury tallied 6 more times. Unfortunately Walker fared no better in the 4th as Roxbury tallied 10 more times in the inning and continued to steal bases with a 15-run lead. Anyway, individual stats are as follows: Walker - 1-3, 2 K, 1 SB Digits - 2-2, 1 BB, 1 SB Trolley - 0-3 Spike - 0-2 Quickstep - 0-2 Brooklyn - 0-1, 1 BB Rugs - 1-2 Slider - 0-1, 1 BB, 1 K Stacks - 0-1, 1 BB, 1 K Game 2: This game, played by 1864 rules, was a lot more competitive although the result was still a loss. The Gotham bats were again silent as we were Chicagoed in 8 of the 9 innings in our 5-4 loss to Roxbury. The 4 runs came in the 3rd inning when Red, Digits, Trolley, Spike, and Quickstep strung together 5 singles and had a few SBs as well. The player of the game would be our new ballist Red who joined us for the second game and had 2 hits and 4 SBs. We played overall good defense holding a fine hitting team to only 5 runs. Here's the individual stats: Walker - 1-4, 2 SB Digits - 1-4, 1 ace, 1 SB Trolley - 1-4, 1 ace, 1 SB Spike - 1-4, 1 ace, 2 SB Quickstep - 2-4, 1 SB Brooklyn - 0-4 Rugs - 2-4, 1 SB Slider - 0-4, 1 K Red - 2-4, 1 ace, 4 SB We were also fortunate enough to pick up a few additional players at this game.
